Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) president M. H. Jawahirullah on Monday alleged that Chief Minister Vijay had crossed the limits while criticising the Opposition during his reply to the demands for grants for the Police Department in the Assembly.
Following the Chief Minister’s remarks alleging that the Enforcement Directorate had pointed to corruption by the DMK, DMK members sought permission to respond. After the Speaker denied permission, the DMK members, along with the MMK, staged a walkout from the Assembly.
Speaking to reporters at the Assembly premises, Jawahirullah said criticism of the Opposition by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin had remained within limits.
He alleged that Vijay’s speech went beyond the scope of a reply to the demands for grants for the Police Department. “A reply should explain the demands raised by members and the details contained in the policy note. The Chief Minister has expressed political vendetta,” he said.
