PSG hospitals hosts fetal Echocon

PSG Hospitals, Peelamedu, successfully inaugurated FETAL ECHOCON 2026 – Imaging the Fetal Heart: From a Holistic Perspective, a two-day national scientific conference on fetal cardiology and prenatal imaging, at its B Block Auditorium.
The conference, held on February 7 and 8, carried four Tamil Nadu Medical Council credit points and brought together eminent fetal medicine specialists, paediatric cardiologists, radiologists, geneticists, neonatologists and obstetricians from across India and abroad.
Dr. Lalitha N, Professor and Senior Consultant in Fetal Medicine at PSG Hospitals, delivered the introductory address, underscoring the importance of early detection of congenital heart disease and the need for standardized fetal cardiac screening protocols. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. J. S. Bhuvaneswaran, Director, PSG Super Specialty Hospital, and Dr. T. M. Subbarao, Principal, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, who formally inaugurated the conference and felicitated the award recipients. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Prof. Suresh Seshadri, Director, Mediscan Systems, Chennai, for his outstanding contributions to fetal medicine and prenatal imaging. The Pioneer in Fetal Echocardiography Award was conferred on Dr. Indrani Suresh, Director and Senior Consultant in Fetal Medicine, Mediscan Systems, Chennai, for her pioneering work in advancing fetal echocardiography in India.
A special invited lecture on the “Every Little Heart Matters” programme was delivered by Prof. Reem Abu Rustum, President of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, USA, highlighting global initiatives to improve fetal heart screening and perinatal outcomes.
The conference features hands-on training, case-based discussions, expert panels and interactive sessions on advanced fetal cardiac imaging, complex congenital heart disease and in-utero cardiac therapy, reaffirming PSG Hospitals’ commitment to academic excellence and maternal-fetal care.
