PSG College of Technology on Friday inaugurated ‘The Confluence 2026’, a Research, Innovation and Technology Summit, aimed at fostering collaboration between academia and industry on emerging technological trends.
The summit was inaugurated under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council at the college campus. Former G20 Sherpa of India and former NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant participated as the Chief Guest, while Kumaravelu, Managing Director of Aqua Group, Coimbatore, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Principal Prakasan presided over the inaugural function and highlighted the importance of research-driven innovation in addressing contemporary societal and industrial challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Amitabh Kant emphasised the role of innovation, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in driving India’s economic growth and global competitiveness. He called upon academic institutions to work closely with industry to translate research outcomes into scalable solutions.
The Confluence 2026 summit will feature panel discussions involving academicians and industry experts, focusing on innovation ecosystems, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. Keynote addresses by industry leaders are also scheduled as part of the programme.
In addition, the summit includes hands-on workshops, idea-pitching sessions, poster presentations and an innovators’ exhibition, offering participants opportunities for practical learning, interaction and collaboration.
Organisers said The Confluence 2026 is envisioned as a dynamic platform to promote dialogue between researchers, students and industry professionals, and to strengthen the linkage between academic research and real-world applications.
