PSG tech platinum jubilee alumni meet begins

The PSG College of Technology, founded in 1951, has begun celebrations marking its Platinum Jubilee, commemorating 75 years of excellence in technical education, innovation and service to society.
As part of the celebrations, the Platinum Jubilee Alumni Meet is being held from January 9 to 11 at the PSG Tech campus in Coimbatore.
The three-day alumni meet has drawn an overwhelming response, with over 5,000 alumni along with their family members participating from across India and abroad.
Alumni from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Dubai and other countries, representing various batches and disciplines, have gathered to reconnect with their alma mater.
The alumni meet was inaugurated on January 9 with Kasi Goundan, a distinguished alumnus of PSG College of Technology, as the chief guest, and K Veluswami as the guest of honour.
On January 10, S Ramadorai, Chairperson of Mission Karmayogi Bharat and former Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services, will be the chief guest at the awards function.
Alumni entrepreneurs and young alumni of PSG Tech are being recognised for their achievements in their respective professional fields.
A key feature of the meet is the Knowledge Connect programme, in which around 100 alumni are sharing their professional experiences and expertise across multiple domains with the student community.
Special emphasis is being placed on alumni contributions to industry, entrepreneurship, research, public service and society.
The celebrations also include panel discussions, cultural programmes and interactive sessions, providing a vibrant platform for networking and reflection.
A Pattimandram is being moderated by Solvendhar Sukisivam, with renowned speakers from various states participating.
The campus is resonating with Tamil folk and classical art forms, including Nyaandi Melam, Karakaattam, Thappattam, Oyilattam, Kolaattam, Kavadiyattam, Poikaal Kudhiraiyattam, Pokkali Kattakkal Attam, Kombu Vaathiyam, and Maadu and Mayil
dances.
These performances are being presented by Rajesh and his team from Thiruvarur Music College.
On the second day, the celebrations feature Pongal Kondattam, capturing the festive spirit of Tamil culture. Sports events such as a walkathon and marathon are also being organised, bringing together alumni and students.
Visitors are exploring the GRD Science and Technology Museum, which highlights PSG Tech’s legacy of innovation.
The event is being organised by the PSG Tech Alumni Association and the PSG Tech Alumni Foundation, with the active support of faculty members, students and volunteers, reflecting the institution’s strong global alumni connect and enduring legacy.
