The draft electoral roll for the Puducherry Assembly constituencies was released on Tuesday by District Collector Kulothungan in the presence of representatives of recognised political
parties.
Announcing the revision details, the Collector said Puducherry district earlier had 8,51,775 registered voters.
After the special summary revision, 85,531 names were deleted as the individuals concerned failed to resubmit or verify the required forms.
With the deletions, the total number of electors in the draft roll has come down to 7,66,444.
Of them, 3,66,396 are men, 4,05,728 are women and 120 belong to the third gender category.
The Collector said voters whose names are missing from the draft list can submit claims and objections till January 14.
The final electoral roll will be published on February 14. To improve voter convenience, the number of polling stations in the district has been increased.
As many as 120 new polling stations have been added, taking the total from 798 to 918, the Collector said.
