Senior Superintendent of Police Isha Singh, who was serving in Puducherry, has been transferred to Delhi as part of an administrative reshuffle ordered by the Union Government.
The transfer comes weeks after her firm and widely noted handling of security arrangements at a public meeting of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam addressed by actor-politician Vijay. The meeting was held at the Uppalam Helipad Ground in Puducherry on December 9 last year, with elaborate security measures in place due to the large turnout.
During the event, Isha Singh personally supervised entry checks at the venue and denied access to those without valid passes. When party functionaries, including Vijay’s associate Bussy Anand, requested that volunteers without passes be allowed to enter citing available space, the officer firmly refused, stressing the police responsibility to prevent overcrowding and untoward incidents.
Her clear and uncompromising stand drew widespread public attention and appreciation. Puducherry Home Minister N Namachivayam later personally spoke to the officer and praised her professionalism. Social media platforms also saw extensive support for her actions following the meeting.
According to official orders issued by the Union Government, Isha Singh has been transferred to Delhi. As part of the same reshuffle, Puducherry Inspector General of Police Ajit Kumar Singla and IAS officer Padma Jaiswal have also been transferred to the national capital.
