Railway officer accused of forcing loco pilot to strip to verify medical leave

A railway official in the Lucknow Division of Uttar Pradesh has come under scrutiny after allegedly forcing a loco pilot to remove his clothes to prove that he had undergone surgery.
Rajesh Meena, a loco pilot in the Lucknow Railway Division, reportedly suffers from piles and had sought leave for surgery.
However, his immediate superior, Chief Group Controller Ratan Kumar, initially refused to grant him leave.
After repeated requests, Rajesh Meena was later granted a week’s leave and underwent surgery. As the surgical wound had not fully healed within the leave period, he requested an extension of leave.
According to reports, when he approached his superior again, the officer allegedly asked him to remove his clothes and show his private parts to verify whether the surgical wound was genuine.
It is also alleged that derogatory remarks related to caste were made during the incident.
Following the episode, Rajesh Meena submitted complaints to several authorities, including the President of India, the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India, seeking action.
A video of the incident, reportedly recorded by colleagues, has circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention.
Senior railway officials have taken note of the incident and initiated an inquiry. Reports indicate that action, including filing a case of assault against the officer concerned, is being considered.
