In a touching blend of creativity and cultural sensitivity, a couple from Akurdham Colony near Borghetta in Rajasthan has gone viral for printing their son’s wedding invitation on a handkerchief. Mahesh Ranewal and his wife Mamta, whose son is set to marry next week, wanted to move away from the traditional paper invitation. While searching for innovative ideas on social media, they came across handkerchief-printed invitations — a concept that immediately appealed to them. With the help of a local printing shop, the couple designed and produced the cloth-based invitations and distributed them to relatives and friends. The thoughtful and distinctive gesture drew widespread praise from all who received it. Explaining their motivation, the couple said they were disturbed by the sight of paper wedding cards — often featuring religious images — discarded on roadsides. “Seeing people accidentally step on such cards felt disrespectful,” they said. “By printing the invitation on a handkerchief, we ensure it will be reused rather than thrown away.”
Their innovative, eco-friendly approach has now become the talk of the region, inspiring many to rethink conventional wedding invitation practices.
