A suicide attempt was averted at the Lhasi Dam in Chhipabarod, Baran district, when a young man’s quick thinking and bravery saved a woman from jumping into the waters. The dramatic rescue has since gone viral on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, the young woman, visibly distressed, stood at the edge of the dam preparing to jump. Passersby raised alarm as a crowd gathered in fear of the unfolding tragedy. Just as she moved closer to the drop, a youth leapt down from above and grabbed her.
The woman resisted, trying to break free. At that crucial moment, another man rushed in to assist, and soon others joined to restrain her. Together, they managed to pull her away from the edge, preventing a certain tragedy.
The brave act drew applause from those present, who hailed the youth’s courage and presence of mind. A video of the incident, recorded by bystanders, has gone viral, with netizens praising the rescuers as “real-life heroes.”
Police confirmed that the woman has been safely handed over to her family. Officials said counseling support will be arranged to ensure her well-being.
