Minister Rajmohan has said that the tears shed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate Sathyabama during an election campaign in Dharapuram were being portrayed differently for political reasons.Sathyabama had reportedly become emotional and spoken in tears after Rajmohan was seen whispering something to her during the campaign on Wednesday. The incident subsequently drew criticism.Responding to questions from reporters, Rajmohan said he had only asked Sathyabama to keep her speech brief as time was limited during the campaign.
He said political criticism should not be made without evidence and questioned the criticism of a woman who had spoken in tears while experiencing severe pain.Rajmohan said he had similarly asked people to keep their speeches brief at events where M.K. Stalin and others were present, as the public and leaders had been waiting. He also said there was no need for anyone to buy anyone’s support and claimed that people had joined the new political leadership. On the issue concerning a new Secretariat, Rajmohan said the government would seek the views of the people before taking a final decision.
