Thousands of people participated in special Ramadan prayers organised by the JAC organisation in Coimbatore on Friday.
Ramadan, one of the most significant festivals of the Muslim community, is being observed across the world.
The JAC organisation marked the festival following the sighting of the crescent moon in Saudi Arabia.
In line with this, members of the JAC organisation across several countries and parts of Tamil Nadu offered special prayers wearing traditional attire.
In Coimbatore, the main congregation was held at Ayesha Mahal in the Kuniyamuthur area, where thousands, including children and adults, took part in the prayers. Separate arrangements were made for men and women.
The prayers commenced at 7 a.m. Following the prayers, participants exchanged greetings and conveyed Ramadan wishes.
Families later returned home to celebrate the festival by sharing food with relatives and friends.
