Ranjana Nachiyar joins DMK after quitting TVK

Actor and political figure Ranjana Nachiyar joined the DMK on Friday after quitting Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Ranjana Nachiyar, who had earlier served as the State Secretary for Arts and Culture in the BJP, had joined TVK citing opposition to policies such as the three-language formula and issues concerning Tamil Nadu.
She had recently courted controversy by criticising actor Vijay over his personal life remarks, which led to friction within the party.
Ranjana Nachiyar formally joined the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
She had earlier gained public attention following a legal case in Chennai’s Porur area, in which she was later acquitted.
Her move to the DMK is seen as a notable political shift ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
