Rowdy Toppai Ganesan shot dead in Police Encounter

Notorious rowdy Toppai Ganesan was shot dead by police in an encounter near the Madhavaram roundabout in Chennai.
Police said the encounter took place when a special team attempted to arrest Ganesan in connection with a theft case. During the operation, he allegedly tried to attack the police, forcing them to open fire in self-defence.
Ganesan was wanted in connection with the theft of about 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth around Rs. 25 lakh from the house of a woman named Vasantha. Police had launched a search to apprehend him in the case.
During the arrest attempt, Ganesan allegedly attacked the police team, following which he was shot. He died on the spot.
Police said Toppai Ganesan had several criminal cases, including murder and robbery, pending against him. Further investigation is under way.
