One person was killed and three others were seriously injured in an explosion at a private firecracker factory in Chattirapatti near Sattur in Virudhunagar district on Monday morning.
According to initial reports, more than 60 workers were present at the factory when the sudden explosion occurred, triggering a major fire and panic in the area.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and carried out intensive operations. After battling the blaze for over an hour, firefighters brought the fire under control. During the rescue efforts, one worker was found dead with severe burn injuries, while three others were rescued and admitted to hospital for treatment.

Revenue Department officials and police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.
Meanwhile, Nainar Nagendran, BJP candidate for the Sattur Assembly constituency, visited the accident site, met the injured at the hospital, and expressed his condolences.
