Sea recedes unusually at Tiruchendur

An unusual sea movement was witnessed at Tiruchendur Subramania Swamy Temple on Saturday morning, drawing the attention of devotees and locals.
The coastal town, which is home to one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, witnesses a steady inflow of devotees every day, many of whom take a holy dip in the sea before offering prayers at the temple.
Officials said that the sea had receded unusually, moving inward by about 70 feet and exposing moss-covered rocks in areas that are typically submerged. Such changes are generally observed during new moon and full moon days and the days around them, when tidal patterns cause temporary shifts in sea levels.
Following the development, temple authorities and police advised devotees to exercise caution while bathing in the sea, urging them to remain within safe limits.
The situation later returned to normal, officials said.
