Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman has said he is willing to accept support from the DMK and AIADMK in the upcoming Ambasamudram Assembly by-election if the parties voluntarily extend it.
Seeman made the remarks after paying homage to freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar at his memorial in Pasumpon village, Ramanathapuram district, on the occasion of Thevar Jayanthi.
Speaking to reporters, he clarified that no decision had been taken by him, the DMK or the AIADMK on projecting him as a common candidate in Ambasamudram. He said TVK functionaries had initiated discussions about the possibility.
Stating that he represented people across communities, Seeman said political criticism of DMK president M.K. Stalin and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami would not prevent him from accepting their electoral support.
“If they extend support generously, how can I say no?” he asked, adding that such support need not be viewed as an alliance.
Seeman said he wanted an opportunity to enter the Assembly and demonstrate how he would work for the people. He promised to transform Ambasamudram into a model constituency.
He also challenged the TVK and NTK to contest against each other in Ambasamudram, saying the contest would reveal their respective public support.
Earlier, Stalin had said the DMK would decide on supporting Seeman after the by-election schedule was announced.
