Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman has announced that he will contest the upcoming Assembly by-election in Tamil Nadu, with Ambasamudram emerging as the likely constituency.
The announcement comes ahead of by-elections to six Assembly constituencies following the resignation of five AIADMK MLAs, including former Minister C. Vijayabaskar, who later joined the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The vacancies have necessitated by-elections, though the Election Commission is yet to announce the polling schedule.
Speaking in an interview to a newspaper, Seeman said party workers and supporters had urged him to contest one of the six vacant constituencies. After internal discussions, the party had identified Ambasamudram as the most suitable seat for him.
He added that NTK would field its candidates in the remaining by-election constituencies as well. Seeman expressed confidence that the party would put up a strong performance and said the by-elections would provide an opportunity to strengthen NTK’s political presence in the State.
His announcement has intensified political interest in the forthcoming by-elections, with major parties expected to begin preparations once the election schedule is
notified.
