Former Minister V. Senthil Balaji formally launched his campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections, announcing his intention to contest from the Coimbatore South constituency and expressing confidence in a decisive victory for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance.
Addressing party cadres and supporters at the campaign launch event, Senthil Balaji thanked Chief Minister M. K. Stalin for framing the upcoming election as a contest between the “Tamil Nadu team and the Delhi team.”
He extended greetings to leaders and cadres of the secular progressive alliance and acknowledged the efforts of district-level functionaries and organisers.
He specifically mentioned the role of former Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy and other party administrators in mobilising support for the campaign. Senthil Balaji said he would file his nomination for the Coimbatore South seat in 2026 with the blessings of party leadership and the support of cadres.

Highlighting development works in Coimbatore, Senthil Balaji said that despite the DMK-led alliance not winning seats in the district in 2021, the Chief Minister had ensured the implementation of several major projects.
These included the Semmozhi Poonga, Periyar Library, the G. D. Naidu flyover on Avinashi Road, land acquisition for Coimbatore airport expansion, and the Thangam Nagar park
project.
He added that significant investments had also been made in infrastructure such as road development, underground drainage systems and street lighting over the past five years, reflecting the government’s commitment to Coimbatore’s growth.
Calling upon party workers to ensure victory for the Rising Sun symbol in Coimbatore in 2026, Senthil Balaji urged cadres and administrators to work unitedly and intensify grassroots efforts.
Referring to his earlier campaign stop in Karur, Senthil Balaji said that both Karur and Coimbatore were equally important to him, describing them as “two eyes” as directed by party leadership.

He concluded by assuring that he would work as one among the people to bring more development projects to Coimbatore and transform Coimbatore South into a model constituency with comprehensive infrastructure and facilities.
Expressing gratitude to cadres and supporters who attended the campaign launch, he appealed to voters to support the party and ensure victory in the upcoming elections.
