Separate corridor planned for CM Vijay convoy

The Transport Department has arranged a separate traffic corridor for the convoy of newly elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay from his residence at Neelankarai to the Secretariat following repeated traffic congestion complaints along the route.
Officials said triangular barricades are being placed to create an exclusive lane for the Chief Minister’s convoy, allowing the vehicles to move without interruption. The remaining portion of the road will continue to be open for public use.
The alternative arrangement was introduced after continuous criticism over traffic disruption caused during the Chief Minister’s movements between Neelankarai and the Secretariat.
The move is expected to reduce inconvenience to motorists and prevent disruption to public transport services during the Chief Minister’s travel.
The distance between Neelankarai and the Secretariat is around 17 kilometres. Sources said the government is also considering allotting an official residence for the Chief Minister closer to the Secretariat to reduce security-related traffic congestion and improve movement efficiency.
