A tragic road accident on the Mumbai National Highway in Nellore district claimed the lives of seven people yesterday morning.
The victims, identified as Sesham Bala Vengayya (45), his wife T. Radha (38), his brother Talluru Srinivasulu (40), Srinivasulu’s wife Challagundla Lakshmi, relative Shesham Saramma (40), and teenager Chandu Priya (15), were travelling in a car when tragedy struck.
Near Sangam in Nellore district, their vehicle was hit head-on by a speeding tipper truck coming from the wrong direction. The impact was so severe that the car was crushed beneath the truck, killing all six family members and the teenager on the spot.
Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that negligence on the part of the truck driver led to the accident. Authorities have registered a case and are pursuing further inquiries.
On receiving the news, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. They also directed officials to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure strict legal action against those responsible.
