As preparations gather pace for the upcoming local body and panchayat elections in Maharashtra, a controversial statement by a Shiv Sena MLA has sparked widespread discussion.
Kalamnuri MLA Santosh Bangar of the Shiv Sena made a startling promise at a public event held in Hingoli
district.
Speaking from a wrestling arena during the event, Bangar said he had recommended Sanjay Kotke as a candidate and declared that he would pay ₹71 lakh if Kotke was defeated in the election.
“I have proposed Sanjay Kotke as the candidate. If he is defeated, I will give ₹71 lakh,” Bangar was heard saying in the video.
A clip of the statement has since surfaced on social media and is going viral, drawing mixed reactions and raising questions about the propriety of such remarks during the election season.
Political circles are abuzz, with critics terming the statement bizarre, while supporters claim it was made in a lighter vein. Election officials have not yet commented on the
matter.
