South India Spinners Association hosts panel discussion on Cotton and labour reforms

The South India Spinners Association, in association with the Recycle Textile Federation, organised an interactive panel discussion on “Current Cotton Scenario, Latest Schemes on EPF and New Labour Codes” at G.V. Hall of the Coimbatore Cosmopolitan Club here on January 20.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by S. Jagadesh Chandran, Honorary resident Secretary, South India Spinners Association, who outlined the objectives of the programme and highlighted the importance of such interactive discussions in the present industrial and regulatory environment.
The presidential address was delivered by R. Arun Karthik, President, South India Spinners Association, who spoke on the prevailing cotton market scenario, price volatility, quality issues and emerging statutory challenges. He also explained the continuous efforts taken by SISPA to safeguard the interests of member spinning mills.
The programme witnessed active participation from spinning mill owners, senior management professionals, HR heads and statutory compliance officers from across Tamil Nadu.
The panel discussion on the cotton scenario featured R. Arun Karthik, President, SISPA; R. Jeyakumar, General Manager, The Cotton Corporation of India, Coimbatore; and Nishant Asher, Honorary Secretary, Indian Cotton Federation, Coimbatore. The panel discussed cotton availability, price trends, quality aspects and advised members to closely monitor arrivals, MSP operations and global market movements while planning procurement.
The session on latest EPF schemes was addressed by G. Venkatesan, Vice President, SISPA, and K. Prasant, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner–I. Srinivasan, Enforcement Officer, EPF, Coimbatore, made a detailed presentation on various EPF schemes, compliance requirements, online processes and benefits available to employers and employees.
The session on ESIC schemes, new Labour Codes and the Factories Act featured S. Jagadesh Chandran, Hon. Secretary, SISPA; M. Karthikeyan, Deputy Director, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, SRO, Coimbatore; Er. Arul, Additional Director (Retd.), Industrial Safety and Health, Coimbatore; and Dr. P. Willington Jebaraj, HR and Legal Consultant. The panel explained ESIC benefits, SPREE and Amnesty Scheme–2025, and compliance expectations under the new Labour Codes and Factories Act.
Recycle Textile Federation Chairman M. Jayabal delivered a special address highlighting the importance of statutory compliance and benefits available to members. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by N. Pradeep, Vice President, SISPA.
More than 100 members from SISPA and RTF participated and benefited from the programme.
