Stalin announces Rs 2,000 special aid for pensioners

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday announced a special financial assistance of Rs. 2,000 for elderly persons, widows, transgender persons and differently-abled beneficiaries receiving social security pensions in Tamil Nadu.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the move follows positive response to the Rs. 2,000 summer special package extended to women under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme. Based on requests from other vulnerable sections, the government has now credited an additional Rs. 2,000 along with the March pension to eligible beneficiaries.
According to the announcement, 29.29 lakh beneficiaries, including elderly persons and widows covered under various social security schemes, will receive Rs. 3,200 each including their monthly pension. As many as 5.92 lakh differently-abled persons will receive Rs. 3,500 each.
Further, 2.58 lakh families of differently-abled persons receiving maintenance allowance have been provided Rs. 4,000 each.
In addition, fishing ban assistance of Rs. 8,000 per family will be provided to 1,62,400 fishing families for the April to June period.
The Chief Minister also announced a subsidy support of Rs. 8.53 crore for green tea procured at Rs. 2 per kg through 15 cooperative tea factories, benefiting 14,870 tea farmers in the Nilgiris district.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, Stalin said no one would be left behind in Tamil Nadu’s development journey.
