Stalin extends support to anti-NEET federation’s online signature campaign

DMK president and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has extended his support to the online signature campaign launched by the Anti-NEET Federation, which is demanding the abolition of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
The Anti-NEET Federation was formed in memory of S. Anitha, who died by suicide after her medical admission aspirations were affected by NEET, and to press for complete exemption for Tamil Nadu from the examination.
The federation has recently launched a large-scale signature campaign under the hashtag #BanNEET. It is demanding exemption for Tamil Nadu from NEET and the restoration of a medical admission system suited to the state’s educational environment and social justice principles.
The campaign also seeks restoration of a fair, state-controlled admission system and measures to prevent rural government-school students, historically marginalised sections and economically disadvantaged students from being structurally excluded from professional education.
Stalin signed the campaign and expressed his support after meeting representatives of the Anti-NEET Federation-Tamil Nadu.
In a social media post, Stalin said NEET was not merely an examination but had resulted in shattered dreams of many students and tears among families. He said the DMK had been consistently demanding the abolition of NEET, calling its abolition a permanent solution.
He also urged DMK functionaries, youth and students, among others, to extend their support to the campaign.
Stalin has previously reiterated the DMK’s demand for abolition of NEET. In July, he said that abolishing NEET was the only lasting solution to recurring controversies surrounding the medical entrance examination.
