Stalin vows to release Keezhadi report

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said that the long-pending Keezhadi excavation research report would also be published, following approval from the Centre for fresh archaeological works in Tamil Nadu.
The Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology had earlier sought permission from the Archaeological Survey of India to carry out excavations at eight sites, including Keezhadi, Adichanallur and locations in Nagapattinam district. After a delay of nearly eight months, approval has now been granted.
In a statement shared on social media, Stalin described the clearance as a result of sustained efforts by the State government. He said the approval marked a significant step forward in continuing archaeological research in historically important sites.
Stalin further asserted that the pending Keezhadi research report, which he alleged had not been released by the Centre, would also be made public. He termed the development a “victory of perseverance” following repeated representations to the Union government.
The Keezhadi excavations have been considered crucial in understanding the ancient Tamil civilisation, and the latest developments are expected to renew focus on archaeological research in the State.
