A stone was hurled at the Swarna Shatabdi Express carrying RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, causing damage to a coach window but leaving passengers unharmed.
According to railway and police officials, Mohan Bhagwat was travelling from Kanpur to New Delhi on Thursday aboard Train No. 12003. The incident occurred when the train was passing through Firozabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
An unidentified person allegedly threw a stone at the E-1 coach in which Bhagwat was travelling. The impact caused a crack in the window glass of the coach. However, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Following the incident, senior police and railway officials rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Agra Range, reviewed the situation and directed officials to identify those responsible.
Police have registered a case and initiated efforts to trace and apprehend the suspect involved in the stone-pelting incident.
Security agencies are also examining the circumstances surrounding the episode, given the high-profile nature of the passenger involved. Authorities said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
