A young girl was injured after being chased and bitten by a stray dog in the VGV residential area of Tiruppur, creating panic among residents.
The incident occurred on 10th Street on Thursday evening when the girl was walking in front of her house.
A stray dog suddenly chased and attacked her, causing injuries in two places.
Hearing her cries, residents rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. She was later admitted to the Tiruppur Government Hospital for treatment.
Local residents alleged that the same dog had bitten several other people in the area on the same day.
They said the stray dog menace has been increasing in Tiruppur Corporation areas, leaving children and elderly people afraid to step out of their homes.
Residents also complained that some pet owners abandon dogs in public places without proper care.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the dog chasing and biting the girl has surfaced on social media, causing a stir.
