In a shocking incident in Mahabubabad district of Telangana, a stray dog allegedly entered a government hospital mortuary and mutilated the body of a 32-year-old man kept there for post-mortem.
The deceased, identified as Bhimeshwar, a lorry driver from Nagasala village, had left home two days earlier informing his family that he was heading to work. When he did not return, relatives searched for him but were unable to trace him.
His body was later found floating in a pond in the locality. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Area Hospital in Mahabubabad for autopsy. The body was reportedly kept in the mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
During this time, a stray dog allegedly entered the mortuary and damaged the body. A video of the incident, recorded by a bystander, surfaced on social media and triggered widespread outrage.
Following the circulation of the video, hospital authorities shifted the body to an ambulance, conducted the post-mortem and later handed it over to the family.
The incident has caused shock among local residents, and officials are expected to initiate an inquiry into the lapse.
