Sundar Pichai meets PM Modi at AI impact Summit

Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday during his visit to India for the Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit currently underway in the national capital.
Senior Google executives were also present at the meeting.
The summit, which began on February 16, will continue till February 20 at Bharat Mandapam. It marks the first Global AI Impact Summit to be hosted in the Global South, drawing participation from over 110 countries, 30 international organisations and ministers from 45 nations.
Ahead of the meeting, Pichai said Google intends to partner closely with India in advancing artificial intelligence. He noted that AI presents a transformative opportunity for the country and affirmed that Google would invest in digital infrastructure, research collaborations, data capabilities and talent development to support India’s long-term AI ambitions.
Prime Minister Modi, speaking on the sidelines of the summit, said India’s IT sector remains the backbone of the services and export economy and described artificial intelligence as both a major opportunity and a challenge.
Industry projections indicate that India’s IT sector could reach 400 billion dollars by 2030, driven significantly by AI-led innovation and outsourcing growth.
