Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has congratulated Supriya Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests, for winning the prestigious UN Environment “Champions of the Earth” Award.
In a message posted on X, the Chief Minister said that Supriya Sahu’s achievement has brought pride to Tamil Nadu. He praised her dedicated efforts in elevating the state’s global standing in climate action and environmental protection.
Stalin added that he hopes the award will further inspire her to strengthen the government’s initiatives, including wetland conservation, expansion of Tamil Nadu’s tropical forest cover, protection of endangered species, and reduction of plastic use across the state.
Supriya Sahu has been widely recognized for leading several major environmental programmes in Tamil Nadu, including climate resilience projects, biodiversity conservation drives, and large-scale plastic reduction campaigns.
