A heart-wrenching tragedy took place in Thugalur Hatti village near Chattikuli in Yadgir district, Karnataka, where a father brutally attacked his own children with an axe, killing two of them on the spot and leaving another battling for life.
The accused has been identified as Saranappa, a daily wage labourer. He lived with his wife, daughter Sanvi (5), and two sons — Hemanth (3) and Bhargav (3). For a long time, Saranappa had been suspicious of his wife’s behaviour and often quarreled with her, claiming the children were not his.
Fifteen days ago, after convincing her, he brought his wife and children back from her mother’s house. However, on the night before yesterday, another quarrel broke out. After everyone went to sleep, Saranappa allegedly took an axe and attacked the three sleeping children.
Hearing their screams, neighbours rushed to the spot. Sanvi and Bhargav were found dead in a pool of blood, while Hemanth was critically injured. He was rushed to the government hospital, where doctors said his condition remains critical.
Saranappa’s wife, who had stepped outside at the time, returned to the horrific sight and broke down in grief.
The Yadgir Suburban Police have registered a case and launched a search for Saranappa, who fled the scene after committing the brutal crime.
