The Synod of the Church of South India has ratified the newly elected office-bearers of the CSI Thoothukudi–Nazareth Diocese. Following the approval, Bishop Isaac Varaprasada Rao, Prime Bishop’s Commissary and Bishop of the Rayalaseema Diocese, visited Thoothukudi to formally confirm the appointments and preside over the Diocesan Executive Committee meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop Isaac Varaprasada Rao said the diocesan elections were held on February 16 and 17. In the polls, Moses Jebaraj was elected Diocesan Vice-President, Rev. T.G.A. Thomas as Clerical Secretary, S.D.K. Rajan as Lay Secretary and T.K.M. Johnson David as Treasurer. Secretaries for various departments and standing committees were also appointed during the meeting. Expressing confidence in the new leadership, the Bishop said the diocese would witness steady progress under the elected team. He added that steps would be taken soon to elect a Bishop for the diocese and conveyed his blessings and congratulations to the office-bearers.
Speaking to reporters, Lay Secretary S.D.K. Rajan said the new team would function with dedication and sincerity, treating the responsibility as a divine calling. He noted that several educational institutions function under the diocese and assured that seniority norms would be strictly followed in future staff appointments. He also announced plans to establish new educational and vocational institutions and promised transparent and efficient administration. Those present at the meeting included Diocesan Vice-President Moses Jebaraj, Clerical Secretary Rev. T.G.A. Thomas, Treasurer T.K.M. Johnson David, former Lay Secretary Mohanraj, Arumai Nayagam, Devarajan, Manager of the Diocesan Primary and Middle Schools, Executive Committee members, former Thoothukudi Municipal Chairman R. Henry and several clergy members.
