Tamil Nadu Govt. announces pay revision for Ration shop employees

The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a revised pay structure and allowances for employees working in cooperative ration price shops across the State.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection, newly appointed employees in cooperative ration shops will receive a consolidated pay of Rs. 7,500 per month for salespersons and Rs. 6,600 for packers during the first year of service.
After completing one year, salespersons will be placed in a revised pay scale of Rs. 9,900–39,600, while packers will receive a pay scale of Rs. 9,000–35,000. The basic pay will be fixed by adding 15 per cent to the existing basic salary and rounding it off to the next Rs. 10.
The revised salary will include 55 per cent of the basic pay along with dearness allowance applicable to government employees from time to time. The existing annual increment of three per cent will continue.
Employees will also receive various allowances, including medical allowance of Rs. 300 per month and additional incentives based on the number of ration cards served by each fair price shop.
Special allowances have also been announced for employees working in Chennai and other areas, while those serving in hilly regions will receive a hill allowance of up to Rs. 1,500 per month.
The government has also retained the provision for selection grade after 10 years of service, special grade after 20 years and an additional pay increase after 30 years in the same post.
