Tamil Nadu karate athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 2nd International Karate Championship held in Malaysia from May 22 to 24, securing top honours in multiple categories.
Participants from more than 10 countries, including India, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia and Syria, took part in the international event.
A total of 10 athletes from Tamil Nadu competed in the Kata and Kumite categories. Among them, five participants were from Coimbatore, four from Palladam and one from Chennai.
The athletes — Iniyan Karthi, Gautham Krishna, Karthikeyan, Kavinya Sri, Libishan, Nithyadarshini, Rithanya, Shakti, Sabareeskumar and Yazhini — secured positions among the top three in various events, bringing laurels to the country.
P.Senthilkumar Parameswaran, coach of Para Academy of Martial Arts School, appreciated the outstanding achievements of the karate players in the international championship.
