The Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers’ Association (TANFAMA), in association with the South Indian Defence Suppliers and Startups Association (SIDA), will organise a National Roundtable on Fireworks Manufacturing Safety, Technology and Zero-Accident Framework on September 25 and 26 at Rathinam Grand Hall, Coimbatore.The event, part of SIDA Defence Expo 2026, will be held under the theme, “Technology for Safer Fireworks Manufacturing – Towards a Zero-Accident Vision.” It will bring together fireworks manufacturers, government and regulatory authorities, researchers, technology experts, academia and safety professionals to discuss measures to improve workplace safety and modernise manufacturing.Key discussions will include risk reduction, regulatory compliance, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, mechanisation, automation, robotics, sensors, real-time monitoring, artificial intelligence, machine learning, electrostatic control and environmental monitoring.The roundtable will also focus on worker welfare through safety training, skill development, occupational safety standards and improved workplace practices.
Measures to professionalise the industry through standard operating procedures, scientific manufacturing, quality management and technology-driven decision-making will also be discussed.Export promotion will be another major focus, with discussions on improving product quality, international certifications, compliance and access to new global markets. The organisers said the initiative would support Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, indigenous manufacturing, innovation, employment and MSME development.Expected outcomes include an industry safety priority matrix, technology intervention areas, pilot projects, research opportunities, industry-technology collaboration and recommendations on worker welfare and export promotion.Ganesan Panjurajan, President, TANFAMA, said the future of the fireworks industry lay in safety, mechanisation, technology, professionalism and global competitiveness.Sankar Kathiresan, Secretary, TANFAMA, is also associated with the organisation of the
