The Department of Science and Humanities, School of Engineering, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, organised Techno Science Fair 2k26 here, drawing enthusiastic participation from school students from Coimbatore and surrounding areas. The event was held in association with media partner The Hindu Tamil Thisai and aimed at nurturing scientific temper and creativity among young minds.
Nearly 300 students registered for the programme, of whom 224 students participated in the drawing competition organised on the theme “Green Planet My Dream.” The Science Expo featured 15 student teams who exhibited innovative projects, including an automatic drone for surveillance, a wearable wristband designed for children with autism, a rainwater detector and a soil moisture sensor, among other ideas addressing real-world challenges.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, said such platforms play a vital role in strengthening subject knowledge while simultaneously fostering leadership qualities and teamwork among students. She appreciated the creativity and commitment displayed by the participants.
Cash prizes were distributed to the winners in the presence of officials from The Hindu Tamil Thisai, marking the successful conclusion of the Techno Science Fair 2k26.
