Television actor arrested in Rs. 40 lakh fraud case

Television actor Saravanan Nair has been arrested in Virugambakkam on a complaint alleging that he cheated a woman lawyer of Rs. 40 lakh by promising to marry her. Saravanan, who lives in an apartment in Virugambakkam, has acted in television serials and films in supporting roles. He reportedly became acquainted with a woman lawyer, and their relationship later turned into a romantic association. The two had been living together.
The woman, who was living separately from her husband, was reportedly aware that Saravanan was already in a relationship with another woman and had two children with her.
According to the complaint, differences later arose between the two, following which Saravanan allegedly refused to marry her and also threatened her with dire consequences. The woman lawyer subsequently lodged a complaint alleging that Saravanan had obtained Rs. 40 lakh from her by promising to marry her. Following an inquiry, police arrested Saravanan and remanded him in judicial custody.
