The officials have resumed the survey work of the ancient Thalaimalai Suyambu Sanjeeviraya Perumal Temple Girivalam Road located at an altitude of 2700 feet in Vadavattur Panchayat of Mohanur Taluk of Namakkal district.
In 2017, a devotee named Arumugam from Musiri fell down and died while going for Girivalam while holding onto the perimeter wall of the Perumal temple at the top of the mountain.
In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government banned the hilltop Girivalam after the incident.
In this situation, the Thalaimalai Seva Trust Managing Trustee Erode-based Agni Rajesh led the devotees to create a 27 km Girivalam path around the foot of Thalaimalai in 2019.
The first Girivalam was started on 15.8.2019 on Pournami in the presence of Namakkal MP and Senthamangalam MLA.
The trust requested Senthamangalam MLA Ponnusamy to convert the Girivalam road into a tar road and provide necessary facilities to the devotees.
After he spoke in the assembly, the government allocated Rs 2 crore for the Girivalam road and basic facilities in the 2024-2025 budget grant.
In this situation, the Hindu Religious Endowments Department sent a report to the government that the temple did not have the land to build the Girivalam
road.
Therefore, the government withdrew the funds and the Girivalam road work was stopped.
Based on the request of Agni Rajesh, Senthamangalam MLA prepared a petition to give it to the Assembly Assurance Committeeduring its visit to Namakkal district.
But he passed away recently.
In this situation, Agni Rajesh met Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in person to carry out the road work and presented a letter of late MLA and represented to his personal secretary Pradeep Yadav, and Namakkal Collector Durga Murthy.
Following this, Namakkal RDO Shanthi and Musiri Deputy Collector inspected the Girivalam road

Agni Rajesh thanked the Deputy Chief Minister, his personal secretary and the Collector for resuming the inspection work.
He has requested the Chief Minister to take steps to allocate funds and start the road work as soon as possible.
