Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Monday visited veteran Communist leader R. Nallakannu, who is undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, and enquired about his health.
Nallakannu, senior leader of the Communist Party of India, has crossed 100 years of age and has been facing age-related ailments in recent months, leading to repeated hospitalisation. He was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital earlier this month following breathing difficulties and related complications.
Hospital sources said his condition had deteriorated and that he has been under intensive care for over 20 days.
Amid concerns over his health, Thirumavalavan met the doctors attending on Nallakannu and enquired in detail about the line of treatment being provided.
In a message posted on social media platform X, Thirumavalavan said he had personally visited the hospital to meet Nallakannu and obtain updates on his health condition from the medical team.
The veteran leader’s health condition continues to be closely monitored, hospital authorities said.
