Three notorious rowdies have been arrested for assaulting and robbing a biryani shop owner in K.K. Nagar, Chennai. The incident occurred on Monday morning, when Prabhu (35), a resident of Pugazhenthi Street, MGR Nagar, was attacked while riding his two-wheeler through Vanniyar Street, K.K. Nagar, on his way to Koyambedu.
According to police, a gang of three intercepted Prabhu and demanded money. When he refused, they attacked him with a rolling pin found nearby, snatched his cash, and fled the spot. Prabhu sustained injuries in the assault and was admitted to the K.K. Nagar Government Hospital for treatment. He later filed a complaint at the K.K. Nagar Police Station.
Following the complaint, a special team reviewed CCTV footage from the locality and identified the suspects as Abhishek (25) of 63rd Street, K.K. Nagar; Naren (25) of Madanandapuram, Porur; and Prakash (43) of T.V.K. (Thiru Vi Ka) Nagar, Teynampet. Police arrested all three and remanded them in judicial custody.
Investigations revealed that Abhishek and Naren are listed rowdies at the K.K. Nagar Police Station, each facing 10 pending criminal cases, while Prakash is a listed rowdy at the Teynampet Police Station with 14 criminal cases against him.
The arrest of the trio has brought relief to local traders and residents who had raised concerns over rising street crimes in the area.
