Tiruppur Athletes shine at state meet

Athletes from Tiruppur delivered an impressive performance at the 98th Tamil Nadu State Senior Athletics Championships, with Manojkumar winning a gold medal and securing qualification for the National Senior Athletics Championships.
The State-level meet, jointly organised by the Athletics Federation of India and the Tamil Nadu Athletics Association, was held at the Arignar Anna Stadium in Tirunelveli on May 30 and 31.
Around 10 athletes from Tiruppur district participated in the championship. Manojkumar brought laurels to the district by clinching the gold medal in the men’s Decathlon event, a demanding competition comprising 10 track and field disciplines. He secured the top position with a total of 6,686 points. In another notable achievement for Tiruppur, Praveena Rajesh won the bronze medal in the women’s Triple Jump event.
With his gold medal performance, Manojkumar has qualified for the National Senior Athletics Championships, which are scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from June 24 to 28.
RBR Shanmugasundaram, President of the Tiruppur District Athletics Association, along with office-bearers of the association, congratulated Manojkumar and Praveena Rajesh on their outstanding achievements and wished them continued success in future competitions.
