In view of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections scheduled to be held on April 23, 2026, District Election Officer and District Collector K. Tharbagaraj on Wednesday carried out a detailed inspection of election preparedness across key locations in Tiruvannamalai. The inspection began at the counting centre set up at the Tiruvannamalai Municipal Corporation Regulation Sales Hall. Tharbagaraj reviewed the security arrangements for strong rooms housing electronic voting machines of Tiruvannamalai, Kilpennathur, Chengam and Kalasapakkam Assembly constituencies. He also examined facilities for postal ballot storage and assessed basic amenities including drinking water, sanitation and electricity for officials, candidates and agents on counting day. He further inspected internet connectivity, computer rooms, CCTV surveillance systems and the readiness of fire safety equipment to ensure seamless communication of results to the Election Commission.
Later, the District Collector visited the Grace Old Age Home under the Tiruvannamalai Corporation, where he distributed postal ballot application forms to elderly residents. He also administered the voter’s pledge, urging them to exercise their democratic right without bias based on caste, religion, language or inducements. Subsequently, Tharbagaraj inspected the electronic voting machine strong room at the Tiruvannamalai Taluk Office. He also visited the Election Control Centre and Media Monitoring Centre functioning 24/7 at the District Collectorate, reviewing the distribution of election materials and forms to various constituencies.
As part of voter awareness efforts, he unveiled the voter awareness logo and posed with awareness banners to promote electoral participation. District Superintendent of Police M. Sudhakar, District Revenue Officer R. Iram Pradeepan, Assistant Collector (Training) Amrutha S. Kumar, Project Director Dhanapathy, Revenue Divisional Officer Selvam, and Corporation Commissioner Selva Balaji, along with other senior officials, were present during the
inspection.
