To help lakhs of devotees expected to visit for the Thirukarthigai Deepam Festival 2025, the district administration has launched a new mobile application titled “Karthigai Deepam 2025.”
Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Minister E.V. Velu unveiled the app at a function held at the Tiruvannamalai District Collectorate. During the event, he also distributed new POS vending machines to fair price shops, issued compassionate appointment orders, and provided welfare assistance to beneficiaries. District Collector K. Tharpagaraj, MP C.N. Annadurai, and Mayor Nirmala Velmaran were present.
With lakhs of devotees expected from various districts and neighbouring states, the mobile application developed by the district administration and the National Informatics Centre offers essential festival-related information. The app includes details on temporary bus stands, vehicle parking areas, medical camps, purified drinking water stations, police help centres, toilets, 108 ambulances, mobile medical units, fire engines, emergency control helplines, missing-child support desks, and information about the temple. The Minister handed over new POS machines to 10 fair price shops in Eechanguppam, Thennarasampattu, Chanarpalayam, N.P. Devanandal, Ketangal, Punalkadu, Vengikal Puthur, Kandyandal-2, and Kamaraj Nagar. A total of 22 tribal families received new family cards.
Appointment orders were issued to 8 beneficiaries on compassionate grounds in the Nutrition Department, 5 Office Assistants under the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, 1 Road Inspector selected through TNPSC, and 3 Office Assistants under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
Earlier in the day, the Minister inaugurated the newly established Adi Annamalai Revenue Inspector Office and Village Administrative Office at Athiyanthal in Tiruvannamalai Taluk. He also handed over the appointment order to Paska for the newly created Revenue Inspector post.
The event was attended by District Revenue Officer I. Earam Pradeepan, DRDA Joint Director/Project Director Dr. R. Mani, Tiruvannamalai Revenue Divisional Officer Rajkumar, Tiruvannamalai Tahsildar Mohana Raman, and Zonal Deputy Tahsildar Ramesh.
