The Directorate of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University hosted its Award Ceremony and Graduation Day for the Open and Distance Learning Diploma in Agri Inputs (2024–25 batch) at the university campus here. About 700 candidates who successfully completed the programme were awarded their diploma certificates.
Dr. P. Balasubramaniam, Director, Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, TNAU, presided over the function. In his address, he emphasised the vital role of trained agri-input dealers in bridging the gap between scientific research and field-level application, thereby strengthening the agricultural extension system.
The ceremony featured a special address by Dr. Willa Huston, Associate Dean, Global Engagement, University of Melbourne, Australia, who highlighted the importance of adopting a global perspective in scientific engagement and agricultural education. Prof. G. Ambika from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram, also spoke on the occasion, stressing the need for science-based solutions in modern agriculture.
N. Raguraman, State Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Agriculture Input Dealers Association, offered felicitation to the diploma holders and congratulated them on successfully completing the programme.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. P. Balasubramaniam and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. S. Lakshmi, Professor, Directorate of Open and Distance Learning, TNAU.
