Torn flex banner poses safety risk at Hopes

A badly damaged flex advertising banner hanging by the roadside at Hopes near Peelamedu in Coimbatore has raised concerns over public safety, with social activists urging the Coimbatore Corporation to remove it immediately.
Under the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, advertising boards and banners placed along roads are subject to regulations and require proper permission and licensing from the concerned local body.
The rules also require advertising boards to be installed only at permitted locations and within specified dimensions. Banners and boards are required to be removed after the permitted display period ends.
Despite these regulations, the damaged banner at Hopes is reportedly hanging in a torn condition along the roadside. Activists said strong winds could cause the banner to fall onto road users and result in an accident.
They urged the Corporation administration to remove the banner immediately and take appropriate action against those responsible for putting up unsafe advertising structures.
