The Tiruppur District General Council meeting of the Tamil Nadu Federation of Traders’ Associations was held at a private wedding hall in Palladam, with participation from hundreds of traders across the district.
Addressing the gathering, State President Vikramaraja said the federation has passed a resolution extending support to any political party that includes its 19-point charter of demands in their manifesto for the 2026 Assembly elections.
He alleged that election authorities are seizing cash carried by small traders under the pretext of election monitoring, severely impacting their livelihoods. Condemning the action, he announced that traders across the State would observe a week-long closure of shops around the election period as a mark of protest.
Vikramaraja also highlighted the acute shortage of LPG cylinders, stating that traders are facing significant hardship due to the supply crunch. He urged both the Central and State governments to take immediate steps to address the issue.
District Secretary Lala Ganesan, State Vice President Gnanasekar, Bala Nagamanickam, and Aluser Annadurai participated in the meeting
