A government bus displaying the words “Tamil Nadu Victory Party” on its electronic route board created a flutter among passengers, with visuals of the incident going viral on social media.
Passengers were taken by surprise when the digital display, meant to show route details, instead flashed the party name on a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus bearing registration number TN45 M4853. Many were left confused as the board failed to indicate the bus route.
Following the incident, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Kumbakonam) Limited issued a clarification stating that the bus belonged to the Tiruchy zone and was recently introduced into service.
An inquiry revealed that unidentified persons had allegedly tampered with the software of the electronic display board and uploaded misleading content.
The corporation said immediate action was taken after the issue came to light. The motherboard of the display unit was replaced and the correct route information was restored.
Officials added that the service provider managing the electronic signboards has been instructed to prevent such incidents in the future and to take appropriate action against those responsible.
