Two PSG buildings bag first prizes at SSMB awards 2026

Two buildings belonging to PSG & Sons’ Charities Trust, Coimbatore, have won first prizes in their respective categories at the Steel Structures and Metal Buildings (SSMB) Awards 2026.
The awards were presented on October 28 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, as part of Steel Construction Expo Asia 2026.
PSG Hospitals’ A Block Extension won in the Hospital Design category, while PSG Convention Center secured first prize in the Stadiums and Convention Centre category.
The hospital extension involved adding floors using a combination of steel and concrete, with the additional structure supported independently of the existing building. All inpatient units remained operational throughout the construction, ensuring uninterrupted medical services. Completed in 2022, the 1,500-seat PSG Convention Center features an architectural design inspired by the armadillo. Its distinctive structure includes steel arches supporting the dome and a geometric facade with double-glazed triangular glass panels, allowing natural light into the inner walkways. The SSMB Awards recognise excellence in steel architecture, structural engineering and construction. The recognition highlights PSG & Sons’ Charities Trust’s contribution to innovative healthcare and convention infrastructure.
