Udhayanidhi launches Statewide Sports kit distribution drive

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin today inaugurated the Dr. Kalaignar Sports Equipment Distribution Ceremony for Corporations, Municipalities and Town Panchayats at the VIT University Auditorium in Chengalpattu district, distributing sports kits to students from various institutions.
The Deputy CM said the State government is committed to taking sports to every corner of Tamil Nadu and ensuring that young talents receive the facilities they need to excel. He added that the initiative will strengthen grassroots participation and help identify promising sportspersons at an early stage.
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Tha. Mo. Anbarasan, MLAs S.R. Raja, E. Karunanidhi and Varalakshmi Madhusudhanan, along with Tambaram Corporation Mayor Vasantha Kumari Kamalakannan, were among the prominent dignitaries present.
Additional Chief Secretary (Youth Welfare and Sports Development) Athulya Mishra, Member Secretary of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu J. Meganatha Reddy, District Collector T. Sneha, Tambaram Corporation Commissioner S. Balachander and Deputy Mayor Kamaraj also participated in the event.
International para-badminton player Jagadish Dilli and Chess Grandmaster A.R. Ilamparithi were special invitees, inspiring the students with their presence.
Local body representatives, students and sports enthusiasts attended the ceremony, which highlighted the government’s continued focus on improving sports infrastructure and promoting a sporting culture across the State.
