Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurates M.K. Stalin eco-tourism park in Tiruvannamalai

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated the M.K. Stalin Eco-Tourism Park, developed by the Highways Department on the Tiruvannamalai–Thirukovilur Road in Tiruvannamalai district.
The eco-tourism park has been developed over an area of 33 acres by rejuvenating the Edappalayam Lake as part of a rainwater harvesting initiative aimed at increasing groundwater levels.
A decorative bridge with coloured lighting across the lake’s overflow area has been constructed to attract
visitors.
The lake bunds have been strengthened using eco-friendly measures to prevent soil erosion and
landslips. A 2-km-long acupressure walking track has been laid inside the park. Separate play areas for children, outdoor gym facilities for both men and women, and sports equipment have been installed for public use.
Native trees and flowering plants have been planted along the lakeshore, while modern lighting enhances the beauty of the
surroundings. Music therapy facilities with low-volume background music, resting shelters, CCTV surveillance cameras, vehicle parking facilities, and modern toilets for men, women and persons with disabilities have also been provided for public convenience and
safety.
The function was attended by Public Works Minister E.V. Velu, Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Ku. Pichandi, Members of Parliament P. Selvaraj (Anthiyur), C.N. Annadurai and M.S. Dharanivendan, and MLAs M.P. Giri, S. Ambedkumar, P.S. Saravanan and O. Jothi.
Also present were TN Road Development Project Director Th. Po. Bhaskara Pandian, Tiruvannamalai Corporation Mayor Nirmala Velmaran, Deputy Mayor Su. Rajangam, District Revenue Officer Rampradeepan, Highways Special Technical Officer Engineer R. Chandrasekhar, Chief Engineer (Projects) Engineer R.
